Certina Watches

Certina began in 1888, when brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurth opened a small watchmaking workshop in Grenchen, Switzerland. What started as an annex to their family home soon expanded, and by 1906 the brand adopted the name “Grana,” drawn from the Latin word for their hometown. Recognition came quickly, with awards highlighting both quality and innovation. Through the challenges of the 1920s and the Great Depression, leadership passed to the next generation, who carried on Certina’s reputation for precision and reliability.
