Gruen Watches
Gruen’s origins trace back to 1874, when watchmaker Dietrich Gruen patented an improved safety pinion and went on to co-found the Columbus Watch Manufacturing Company in Ohio. After early success and eventual setbacks, Gruen and his son Fred established “D. Gruen and Son” in 1894, producing finely made watches that were sold directly to jewelers, bypassing wholesalers. The company became known for its innovation, elegant designs, and distinctive marketing, leaving a lasting mark on American and Swiss watchmaking.
