Founded in 1867 in Besançon, France, LIP grew from a small workshop into France's largest and most technically advanced watch manufacturer. The brand is synonymous with avant-garde innovation, famously producing the first French electronic watch in 1952 and collaborating with world-renowned designers like Roger Tallon. LIP timepieces have a prestigious political pedigree; their "President's Watch" (the GDG) was gifted to leaders like Charles de Gaulle, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Winston Churchill. Despite a turbulent mid-20th-century history marked by industrial strikes and employee self-management, the brand was successfully revived in 2014 and continues to produce watches in its historic home of Besançon.
